Irvin W. Heying, 87, of Sumner, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner with Rev. Dale Rausch celebrating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Sumner. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4th at Immaculate Conception Church and for one hour preceding the Mass at church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner is assisting the family.
Irvin William, third child of Peter and Agnes (Bohr) Heying was born July 8, 1930, in Festina, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina. Irv received his education at the Parochial School in Festina and later received his G.E.D., which he was very proud of. On September 26, 1951, he was united in marriage with Marion Faye Snyder at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina. To this union five sons were born, Gene, Gerry, George, Jeff, and Jay. Irv was a lifelong farmer and in addition worked and retired from John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo. He was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner.
In addition to his wife, Marion of Sumner, Irv is survived by his five sons, Gene (Susan) Heying of Sumner, Gerry Heying of Waterloo, George (Junever) Heying of Sumner, Jeff (Lori) Heying of Cedar Rapids, and Jay (Lisa) Heying of North Liberty; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Kay, Elsie, Joyce, and Marcie; three brothers, Cleo, Richard, and Don; two brothers-in-law, Dean (Malinda) Cue and Gene Bodensteiner; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Heying.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hugo and Larry Heying; and two sisters, Ruth Langreck and Rosalyn Bodensteiner.
